Information for patients regarding the ‘Flublok' Flu Vaccination
Next week, we will begin vaccinating the additional cohort of patients eligible for a flu vaccine this year, that is, those aged 50-64 years old with no clinical risk.
We will be using a new vaccine called ‘Flublok’ for this group of patients. This product does not have a UK marketing authorisation but has been given authorisation for temporary supply by the Department of Health and Social Care and the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency for immunisation against influenza. Flublok is licensed for use in the USA by the Food and Drug Administration.
All patients wishing to have the vaccine are asked to read the following information sheet (please click on link below) prior to their appointment. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask for a telephone appointment with a GP.
The nurse will not have time to discuss these with you on the day, the appointment is for the vaccination only. You will be asked to confirm that you have read the document. if you have not you may be asked to re-schedule your appointment.
